Bringing approachable cooking to the table.

Welcome!

The Open Book Cook brings approachable cooking lessons and recipes to the table. Join me for a cooking lesson, and browse for inspiration for your next meal. My cooking lessons are crowd sourced, meaning that I work from student requests to build menus and classes that are meaningful to you. My recipes focus on adapting food to specific dietary needs, and innovating on traditional fare.

The Beginning

The Open Book Cook grew out of a lifetime of cooking and a dream. It started in the garden with my family, planting seeds and eating apples fresh off of the tree. After years of cooking classes, experimentation, recipe adaptations and encouragement from friends and family, I opened my doors and started teaching small cooking classes in my home in the Fall of 2018.

My mission is to make cooking approachable for everyone by providing classes that focus on what my students want to learn. I infuse every class with tips and tricks that you can take home and use to make everyday cooking more efficient.

The name, The Open Book Cook, comes from my values. I value the “open book” approach of learning and teaching. I know I’m constantly learning new and better ways to do things and that I won’t always have all the answers, but I will keep my book open and provide the better information to my students as I gain it.
